We've been busy!

Sorry for the long time between posts! We've been busy.
We had a great time in Wyoming with the Plett family. It was so nice to have Alex, Sheri and kids here for almost two weeks to visit. The kids enjoyed playing together and we enjoyed spending time with them.
I just finished teaching my summer courses at PCC. I'll be cutting back to 1/2 time in the fall. We are still trying to decide the schedule, but it looks like I'll just be working one day a week on campus and from home the rest of the time.
Kerry took a photography class this summer and is working on another class before summer is over. He'll only have a few more this fall.
We are getting ready for homeschool to start. Otto and Gabe are both excited to start. Otto more so that he can earn stuff from the "reward box". :)
Zeke is doing well. He's really moving around and trying to stand on his own. He loves to watch his big brothers and tries to keep up with them by crawling just as fast as he can.
I promise I'll work harder to keep up with posting this year. :) I'd like to post more often and keep a "homeschool blog" of sorts to print at the end of the year and add to Gabe and Otto's portfolios for this year. (You can help keep me accountable). :)

We survived

We survived our first year of homeschool! Yes!
We had a great time and are going to do it again next year. We all definitely learned a lot in the process (which is what it's all about right?)I'm starting to shop for some of our supplies for next year online already. I'm looking forward to being home during the day next fall to "school" the boys. :)

A little update for those of you who haven't been following us on Facebook...
Kerry was offered a full time job this fall. He was going to be looking, but the opening was unexpected. It was definitely a God thing and we are very thankful for His control of our lives. I will be able to cut down to a .5 position at PCC. I'll be teaching one class in the evenings and working on Simulation from home during the day. (I'm sure I'll pick up some stuff here and there too). So I get to stay home during the day with the boys (my dream job!) and teach a little in the evenings and work on things at PCC weekends etc.

The family is doing great! Kerry's work at S'cool services has slowed down a bit for the summer, but he's got a few jobs in the mountains this summer. I'm teaching a class this summer at PCC and still teaching online classes. The boys are done with school for the summer.

Gabe has lost 5 teeth total now! He had to lose 3 on the bottom to make way for his TWO new teeth there. He's missing the top 2 big teeth, so there's a big hole there. He's been saving his teeth for when Papa Kevin comes to visit (he's got better connections with the tooth fairy than mom and dad do).

Otto *thinks* he has loose teeth on the bottom. He tells me all the time "mom there's a little wiggle on my bottom teeth." He's doing a great job reading. We made a deal with them to keep them reading this summer so they're working hard.

We're looking forward to heading back to Kansas in a couple weeks to visit with friends and family. Then plans to go to Wyoming for the big Plett gathering!

Hope all is well with you. Love you all have a great next couple of weeks (or until the next time I remember to update) :)

It's been a while

I know we haven't updated in a while. Trying to find time to post here is harder and harder. :)

Classes for Erin are finished. Now a week of faculty development and nursing department meetings, then I'll be done. I am teaching a summer class on Tuesday mornings. But it will be so nice to only have to go in once a week! Yes!!!

Kerry is getting closer to being done with classes. He's taking 2 this summer and a couple next fall. Things are stretched out a little more than we were expecting, but are trusting that it's all in God's timing.

Our plans for next year are still up in the air. So many unknowns for us. We're praying for guidance and clear direction for our family. We very much want me to be able to stay home and Kerry to work full time. It's just with the job market how it is now it's easy to get worried. But wek now that if it's God's will, He will make a way.

The boys are doing well. Gabe and Otto are getting close to the end of school. Of course everyday is a learning day at our house! :) Zeke has two teeth on the bottom. He's rolling all over the place and working hard to crawl. It's fun to watch the new things he's learning everyday. He wants so much to keep up with the big boys.

Hope things are going well with all of you! Have a great week.

New update

Hello all!
Things are going well here. Still plugging along. :)
One week closer to spring break and one more closer to the end of the semester. 8 left to go for those keeping count (like me).

Kerry is working on two classes right now. He is still working 2 days a week delivering for S'cool services. He enjoys getting out of the house and I enjoy getting in it. :)

Gabe and Otto are doing well in school. We're starting to look for curriculum and ideas for next year.

Our Monday night Bible study is on hiatus until April. We very much enjoyed getting together with other married couples on Monday nights, but March seems to be a busy month for all of us.

Zeke just keeps growing and growing. He rolled over from his back to front this last week. Gabe thought it was really cool because he saw Zeke do it first.

There really isn't a whole lot else to update. We're pretty boring people. I'm posting a new slideshow of some recent pictures.

Love you all!

I'm a slacker

Sorry that there haven't been many updates (ok none) for a while. So here's what's going on in our lives these days...

Kerry is plugging along in school. He's getting closer every day. He will be able to walk in commencement (if he wants to, he doesn't.), but won't get his diploma until December. He will be a couple classes short this semester, but he's getting there! Graduation is Saturday, May 9, 2009. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and will last until approximately 12:15 p.m. It's going to be in Denver, and we're still talking about him walking. If he doesn't we'll throw a party for him anyway. :)
Work has started again for him delivering. He is going to be working 2 days a week. Kerry is still doing a great job at home with the boys, but enjoys the "break" of work too.

I'm staying busy teaching for PCC. Tuesday and Thursdays are my very busy days. I am working from home 2 days a week so that Kerry can go to work on Wed and Friday. I'm still doing some teaching online for Kaplan which I enjoy. I very much miss the boys when I'm not home and long to be able to spend more time with them and I cherish the days I'm home with them.

Gabe is doing well in school. He's really writing well with cursive and reading better everyday. He's started some new things in spelling and is now having spelling tests every week. He's doing great! He's a whiz at math. He's surprised us a couple of times because he seems to be putting the concepts of multiplication together without knowing it. For example, last week he told us he had 20 kids and he had 5 groups of 4 kids each that lived in different states. Kerry and I were amazed. Of course we think all our kids are brilliant!

Otto is also doing well in school. He's learning to apply himself better. He's really doing well with phonics and is starting to read simple words. He's actually writing for fun in his free time. Usually letters on the dry erase boards, but any writing with him is great! We've found some fun math alternatives so that he can move around and be active.

Zeke is growing lots! He's smiling and laughing. We are so blessed to have a happy baby. He's really starting to wiggle around when we lay him down. He watches his big brothers with great interest every time he hears their voice. It's so cool to see how he's growing and doing new things everyday!

Other than that, things are going well here. We're looking forward to spring and more outside time as a family. We're also praying for guidance for what God has in store for us after this semester.

I think those are the big updates. I promise I'll try to be a little more on top of the updates, although things don't really change too much for us from day to day. I'm also posting some new pictures of Zeke. Enjoy!

2 month well child check and updates...Oh how they grow!

Hello all! Man do we have a lot to tell you!

Zeke had his two month well child check this last Wednesday. He is now 11lbs 9 oz and 23.5 inches long. He got his first round of shots and seems to be doing okay after that. He didn't seem to have too much pain after the fact, but I hate that part of appointments. He rolled over for the first time on Tuesday. And he's been on the verge of laughing all week. We just can't get any noise to come out. :) Lots of fun smiles though.

Gabe made us feel old this week by learning to ride his bike without training wheels! He was so excited about it and is very proud of himself. So are we.

Otto is doing well too. He had a great time this week doing school outside. It was near 70 most of the week and Kerry took the boys outside to play and do school.

Kerry started his new spring classes this week. He got word this week from his advisor that he'll be short 2 credit hours in May. He'll still be able to walk, but won't get his diploma until December. Grrr. According to our records and the information he was given he should be done in May, but we'll see. I'm encouraging him to do a little more digging to figure out why all of a sudden he's short 2 hours.

I'm doing okay. 13 more weeks to go! My Tuesdays and Thursdays are very long days and I feel like I miss out on so much. Like I missed Zeke rolling over this week which is hard for me. I'm making it, but it's not easy. I'm definitely counting down to the end of the semester, although I do still enjoy my job. We don't know what or where we'll be after May, but a longer break (summer) is welcome and something I'm looking forward to.

We are enjoying our Monday night fireproof your marriage study with two other couples. The boys are still in Awana and Gabe is almost done with his first book. Otto is making good progress too! They're both memorizing one or more verses a week.

We love you all! Have a great week.

One down...14 more to go!

I finished my first week back at school with students yesterday. Only 14 more weeks to go until summer. :) I didn't even bother counting down to spring break.

Kerry did great at home with the boys. I'm sure it had it's stressful moments, but I couldn't tell. :) Tuesday and Thursdays are going to be my really long days.

We had our first "young marrieds" bible study this last week too. We had two other couples come, not so much young marrieds, but sometimes God puts people in our lives for a reason. We'll pray that He blesses our time together.

There's really not a lot to update this weekend. We're making it. The boys are doing well. Zeke has his 2 month check up on Wednesday. It'll be great to see how much he weighs, I'm dreading his shots though. That's the worst part of well child checks.

I hope everyone is doing well. We'll update with pictures later. Hopefully we can catch a smile from our little guy. It's adorable.

Love,
Erin

I survived

Well, I survived my first day back at work since Zeke was born. I was pretty proud of myself and the fact that I made it out of the house without crying. :) I think it was easier than I thought because I was leaving him in the capable hands of my husband and not a child care. How blessed we are!!

It was a long day, but we all survived. Every time I called home, Kerry sounded very calm and happy so that made it easier too. It's going to be tough getting back into the swing of things as I have a lot to do, but I'll get there. :)

Thanks for all your prayers today. I'm sure I'll still need them this semester as the days I work will be long ones. Have a great week!

Maternity leave ending...:(

Well, my maternity leave is ending this week and man am I bummed! The last 6 weeks went so fast. Our faculty week back starts Monday and then students come the following week. I'm sure I'm going to be a wreck and calling home at every break. I've really enjoyed my time off to be a mom! I loved having the energy to cook, homeschool, cuddle, play and be here. :) It seems like when I work (at least teaching) that I'm so drained by the end of the day that it's hard for me to come home and give as much as I'd like to. I even enjoying being able to do laundry while I was on break!
(Ok, enough of the pity party. But prayers are appreciated!)

We had a nice Christmas visit in Kansas with family. Zeke got to meet his cousins, aunts and uncles. He tolerated being passed around pretty well. We were all exhausted by the time we came home. A few of us (me, dad and Otto) got to bring the flu home with us. Thankfully it was short lived and Gabe didn't get it.

The boys are still enjoying a break from school until next week. Kerry has had projects all break for school and is working on a sermon for tomorrow. He enrolled in his classes for this spring. The end is in sight! I've been working some on getting ready for this spring semester. Not as much as I should have been, but it's too hard not to use every minute cuddling with my boys. :)

Wishing everyone a happy New Year! Love you all!
